As the Deputy Speaker said yesterday … “The prime minister wins by a nose.”
Catallaxy Files has this story …
In Julia Gillard’s speech to the Minerals Industry, she said
In five Labor Budgets revenues have fallen by more than one and a half percentage points of GDP. So what’s our response been? We’ve cut spending.
This is a lie. The Labor Government has not cut spending. …
The budget papers show clearly that from 2007-08 to 2014-15 the Government has increased spending by $142.5 billion. In seven of those eight financial years, the Government has increased spending by an average of $20.6 billion per year. In only one year — 2012-13 — is it expecting to reduce spending: by $2 billion or one tenth of the average spending increase of the other seven years.
supporting figures and charts are there. And the conclusion …
Taking policy and parameter decisions together, $217.9 billion has been stripped from the budget bottom line.
These figures show clearly a government drunk on taxing and spending.
