Violation …

A Kentucky medical center is mandating all of their employees complete diversity training after a man came dressed to an annual costume party wearing a mask depicting President Barack Obama in what appears to be a straight jacket.

Jennie Stuart Medical Center is also asking their employees to refrain from wearing political, religious, ethnic and gender based Halloween costumes …

Well, I mean, such behaviour could cause offence. Meanwhile at the Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City, New Mexico, doctors showed a lack of sensitivity in their dealings with one David Eckert.

Poor David was picked up by police for not stopping completely at a stop sign.

… after law enforcement asked him to step out of the vehicle, he appeared to be clenching his buttocks.  Law enforcement thought that was probable cause to suspect that Eckert was hiding narcotics in his anal cavity.  While officers detained Eckert, they secured a search warrant from a judge that allowed for an anal cavity search.

The police recruited the doctors at the Gila Regional Medical Center to undertake the search. None were dressed as Barak Obama and unfortunately they were not wearing strait jackets. What happened next according to 4KOB

1. Eckert’s abdominal area was x-rayed; no narcotics were found.

2. Doctors then performed an exam of Eckert’s anus with their fingers; no narcotics were found.

3. Doctors performed a second exam of Eckert’s anus with their fingers; no narcotics were found.

4. Doctors penetrated Eckert’s anus to insert an enema.  Eckert was forced to defecate in front of doctors and police officers.  Eckert watched as doctors searched his stool.  No narcotics were found.

5. Doctors penetrated Eckert’s anus to insert an enema a second time.  Eckert was forced to defecate in front of doctors and police officers.  Eckert watched as doctors searched his stool.  No narcotics were found.

6. Doctors penetrated Eckert’s anus to insert an enema a third time.  Eckert was forced to defecate in front of doctors and police officers.  Eckert watched as doctors searched his stool.  No narcotics were found.

7. Doctors then x-rayed Eckert again; no narcotics were found.

8. Doctors prepared Eckert for surgery, sedated him, and then performed a colonoscopy where a scope with a camera was inserted into Eckert’s anus, rectum, colon, and large intestines.  No narcotics were found.

Eckert’s attorney, Shannon Kennedy, said

If the officers in Hidalgo County and the City of Deming are seeking warrants for anal cavity searches based on how they’re standing and the warrant allows doctors at the Gila Hospital of Horrors to go in and do enemas and colonoscopies without consent, then anyone can be seized…

Clearly the American medical establishment needs lots of diversity training.

The Barons of NSW …

Professor Gillian Triggs is President of the Australian Human Rights Commission, a body that seems to exist only to harvest complaints about discrimination …

Prof. Triggs :  … If I may say so, I went to an interesting lecture by the foreign minister the other day to celebrate the Magna Carta, quoting the fundamental principles of the Magna Carta that no man—or presumably woman—can be charged or held without a trial of their peers. It seems extraordinary—

Senator BRANDIS: I do not think the barons at Runnymede had friends like Mr Eddie Obeid and Mr Ian Macdonald, unlike our foreign minister, who speaks with eloquence about the Magna Carta …

Remember Thursday, September 12, 1991 …

The opposition leader, Bob Carr, jumped to his feet saying: ”I propose Edward Moses Obeid, OAM, as an eligible person to fill the vacant seat.”

That was the moment that Mr Obeid’s remarkable political career began, and our sonorous foreign minister was his sponsor.
