Ah, the French, they’ve given us so many things, Saxophone reeds, Benedictine … and now parkour. A picture is worth a thousand words, you will quickly get the idea from this classic of the genre (no need to watch it all, it gets a bit tedious) …

David Belle, and S├ębastien Foucan are in the video and along with Raymond Belle are credited with its invention in the 1980’s. The name is derived from “parcours du combattant“, the classic obstacle-course method of military training. With skills like these it is impossible to imagine any obstacle that could hinder a French army retreat.

It’s come a ways since then …
